General comment: .2806 (a); One bag of opened crackers was found stored in its original bag and only twisted closed...Once pre-packaged food has been opened, the food shall be stored in clean, resealable bags or containers made of plastic or glass that are tightly covered and manufactured for the purpose of food storage. 0.0
21. General comment: .2817 (a(b)); A pink ring was seen in the toilet of the DPS/2s room. Toilet fixtures shall be kept clean, in good repair, and disinfected at least daily or when visibly soiled. This also applies to toilet rooms not in use. Previous comment referring to change of use in the Toddler A room with a single sink. "This is the only classroom throughout the center that requires a change of use at the handwashing sink due to classroom only being equipped with one sink. Lavatories shall be cleaned and disinfected with each change of use, when visibly soiled, and at least daily. Change of use occurs when a handwash lavatory is used outside of its original intent. Change of use includes, but is not limited to, a classroom handwash lavatory used for rinsing toothbrushes, a food preparation handwash lavatory used for toy cleaning, or a classroom handwash lavatory used for diaper changing handwashing." 0.0

27. .2819(c); The soapy solution bottles in multiple classrooms were only labeled with the classroom names...Approved disinfectants and detergent solution shall be kept in separate and labeled bottles at each diaper changing station. Label these bottles as "Soapy/Detergent solution". .2819 (h); The diapering procedure sign was missing from the Toddler B room...Signs that instruct child care center employees on proper methods of diaper changing and handwashing as set forth in the rules of this Section shall be posted in each diaper changing area. Note: The sanitizer bottle labels say Disinfectant/Sanitizer but the sanitizer box was not checked. Make sure the box labeling this bottle as "Sanitizer" is checked. 4.0
32. .2821(c); Cots in at least three of the rooms were not consistently labeled with a single system. Some of the cots had more than one number on them or different cots in the same room were using different labels...Beds, cots, and mats shall be assigned and labeled for use by an individual child and equipped with individual linens. Use a single system to label cots so they easily match the cot list. 3.0

1. NOTE: Observed children and teacher properly handwashing upon returning from outdoor play area in the DPS classroom. Also observed proper handwashing prior to eating lunch throughout the childcare center today. 0.0
20. NOTE: Child care operators, as defined under G.S. 110-86(7), shall test, once every three years, all water outlets used for drinking or food preparation. Test water for lead prior to April 14, 2024. 0.0
21. General Comment: .2818(c)- Teacher in toddler classroom is familiar with change of use but there was further discussion on when a change of use is required when the general handwashing sink is used for diapering in this classroom. This is the only classroom throughout the center that requires a change of use at the handwashing sink due to classroom only being equipped with one sink. Lavatories shall be cleaned and disinfected with each change of use, when visibly soiled, and at least daily. Change of use occurs when a handwash lavatory is used outside of its original intent. 32. .2821(c)- In toddler classroom, cots were labeled with three different colored tapes and numbers- cot list needs updating. Preschool and Pre-K classrooms were just divided this week and need an updated cot list. Labels have faded on cots in TK classroom. More than one number observed on cots throughout the center. Beds, cots, and mats shall be assigned and labeled for use by an individual child and equipped with individual linens. Director stated that cots will be re-labeled and cot lists will be updated by the end of day today. 3.0
42. General Comment: .2827(d)- Facility lacks written procedures when responding to these events. The child care center shall have written procedures that employees shall follow when responding to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve the discharge of vomitus or fecal matter onto surfaces in the center. Corrected during inspection- EHS provided approved written procedures via email to meet this requirement. 0.0
General Comments
*Correct diapering procedure was observed in the Infant classroom. All steps completed.
*Reach-in freezer should be placed in a defrost to melt the frost that is beginning to accumulate.
