The school cafeteria is currently preparing and selling food for students without a permit issued by the local county regulatory health authority, (Wake County Environmental Services). A permit to prepare and sell food to the public is required for the school cafeteria under NC public health codes. Sanitation inspections of the cafeteria by Wake County Environmental Services are also required under NC health code. The school could face liability issues for operating a food prep. facility without a permit.
