General Comments
Compliance with G.S. 130A-248g needed. The only Carbon Monoxide detectors observed are in the lobby outside of gas fireplace and probably in the ADA rooms. Carbon Monoxide Detectors are required to be installed in every enclosed space having a fossil fuel burning heater, appliance, or fireplace and in any enclosed space, including a sleeping room, that shares a common wall, floor, or ceiling with an enclosed space having a fossil fuel burning heater, appliance, or fireplace. Some Universal Security Instruments model CD-9775 Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms have been purchased and are present in boxes in this hotel. Installation required. The area identified today as needing CO detectors are Laundry Room, guest rooms 200, 202, 204 that are above the laundry; Boiler Room is on the 6th floor and requires the CO detector as well as room 601 beside it and 501 below. Also the banquet closet on the 5th floor. Rooms above the fireplace need CO detectors.

13. Hot water found at 134-137 in rooms 526 and 626. Guest room water must be maintained between 116 and 118 degrees F. Management indicates that temperature variations in these rooms may be due to sharing lines with kitchen or laundry. If this is the case and hot water in excess of 128 degrees F is required for kitchen/laundry, recommend that tempering valves be installed at each shared room to eliminate excessive hot water in guest rooms. *Improper water temperatures is a repeat violation over multiple inspections and may result in loss of full credit or permit action on future inspections.* 1.5
19. Cased single use items stored on the floor in storage room and in one storage room previously opened containers of toxic cleaning chemicals stored on top of cased cups. Protect single use items from contamination. 1.5
30. Supplies and (cased not in use) linens stored on floor in multiple storage rooms. All linens, equipment, and supplies shall be stored on shelves. While no specific height is required, recommend 6-12 inch elevation to faciliate floor cleaning. 1.5
General Comments
Duvets do not have upper sheet folded over 6 inches. Management states that duvet covers are washed between guests. No immediate risk to guests observed with current practice. However, be aware that Rules state: "The upper sheet shall be folded under the mattress at the lower end and folded over the cover for at least six inches at the top end."
Establishment has one dirty linen bin and three clean bins. Dirty linen bin and one of three clean bins are clearly labeled, and dirty bin has designated storage location. Strongly recommend that all bins be labeled.
One of numerous housekeeping carts checked found to not have sanitizer on cart. Ensure that all housekeeping carts are stocked with sanitizer and that it is used at vanities and ice bins.
