Disinfecting acid bathroom cleaner is not an approved sanitizer. Also, lodging section uses QA test strips used in hotel kitchen. The lodging section shall use its own sanitizer test strips...In guest rooms, the bathroom sink, its handles, faucet, and vanity shall be washed using an all purpose cleaner and rinsed daily if the room has been occupied. 13. Many lavatory sink temperatures were above the 116-128 degree range. These rooms were 130-136 degrees:102,107,222,224,216,312,412,426. The following lavatory temps. were in the 116-128 range: room 303,302,322. Lavatory sinks must have a temperature of 116-128 degrees. 1.5
15. Drinking glasses in the bathrooms have no wrapping nor cap covering the edge of the glass. This was seen on the last inspection. The facility is switching over to single service disposable cups. The house keeper is in the process of removing the glasses from the bathrooms. 2.0
17. Ice machines on the 4th and 3rd floors have mold build up and need to be cleaned. Asked house keeping to also check and clean the 1st and 2nd floor ice machines also. This is a repeat from the last inspection. Ice machines must be kept free of mold build up. 1.5
20. many guest rooms had dirty ventilation filters. Vent filters throughout the facility need to be cleaned. Ventilation filters must be kept clean. 0.5
22. Rooms 216,222 and 224 all had one bulb burned out in the bathroom which made the foot candle measurement less than 30 ft. candles. These need to be replaced. Room 224 also had 2 bulbs burned out in the bedroom area. Lavatory areas must have 30 ft. candles of lighting. 0.0

Rooms 302 and 303 had pillow case stains, Room 303 had a stain on the box spring cover, Room 224 had a stain on the mattress pad, Rooms 216 and 312 had hair on the sheets, Room 312 had a stain on the down comforter, Room 312 had hair on the box spring cover. Sheet, pillow cases, blankets and bed spreads shall be clean and in good repair. 2.0
30. Boxes of customer contact items are stored on the floor throughout the facility in storage areas. The storage rooms need additional shelving to accommodate these items. This is a repeat from the last inspection, however some shelving has been added to the storage areas. Customer contact items must be stored off the floor. 1.5
34. The dumpster area is full of plastic bags that are on the ground along with other excess debris. Refuse area must be clean from build up of bags and excess items on the ground. 0.0

room 107 had a slow draining sink, room 303 has a slow flushing toilet. Storage areas throughout the facility had deep chest freezers with food in it that was labeled "employee food not for restaurant use". This hotel is not permitted for hotel food service other than the small breakfast bar area. The food in the freezers is prepared at a restaurant offsite and delivered to another facility. This food that is not approved on the hotel's permit must be removed from the hotel or permit action may be taken. Will follow up with this in the future. Repeat violation: Sanitizer spray bottles on multiple housekeeping carts contained either a completely different chemical (turning test strip yellow) or tested over 500 ppm quaternary ammonium, or there was no sanitizer bottle on cart. The vanity and the lavatory must be cleaned, rinsed of any chemical residue, sanitized, and then left to air-dry. Be sure all housekeepers know how to properly mix and use sanitizer. Found other cleaner bottles with different contents than what the labels said or with faded labels. Be sure toxic substances are properly labeled. 1.0

Further cleaning needed for wrappers on floor and between mattresses in rooms 324 and 406, and for hairs on bed sheets and bathroom counters in a few rooms. General Comments
Order Inn roomservice menu receives food delivered from Checkers Pizza at 2810 Hillsborough Street, according to the customer service representative of that company. He stated this hotel is in "Area 500".

PIC stated that food stored here which is not for the permitted hotel foodservice, is for charity donation. He said the food is prepared at Taj Mahal at Mini City, and Raaga restaurant and Aloft hotel in Chapel Hill, and delivered to the Hindu Society Temple in Morrisville. Food stored throughout hotel which is not for the foodservice must be removed from the facility. Permit action may be taken on hotel and foodservice permits if food from unapproved sources is stored in hotel or in unapproved areas in hotel.

Cleaning needed on A/C filters in 2nd floor vending room and room 324. Dumpster doors must remain closed when not in use.

This was noted on your last 2 inspections (original one dating back to November 20, 2008). Without the dishwasher you do not have an approved means of sanitizing multi-use items. I turned the water on during the inspection but could not get the dishwasher to properly work. This needs to be repaired. 4.0
17. Repeat: Found ice machines to need cleaning on the second and the fourth floors. Be sure ice machines are cleaned quarterly. Food contact surfaces must be kept clean and be properly sanitized. 1.5
19. General Comment: Found boxes of single-service items stored on the floor in the storage rooms. Found single-service cups stored without plastic wrap in the food service area where they could become contaminated by customers coughing or sneezing. 0.0
24. General Comment: Found folds throughout the facility to be between 2-6 inches. The upper sheet shall be folded under the mattress at the lower end and folded over the cover for at least 6 inches at the top end. 0.0
