Comment: A bottle of bleach and an aerosol spray can of Lysol were found in an unlocked cabinet. The items were high up in the cabinet but these items are required to be locked when they are not in active use. Both items were moved to the filing cabinet and properly locked up during inspection. If this is found on a future inspection, demerits will be taken and a provisional rating will be given.

During inspection, teacher informed EHS that the carpets are only cleaned once annually. Over the summer, the carpets throughout the school are cleaned, however, NC Childcare rules require that carpets are cleaned by extraction method at least once every 6 months. In order to comply with this requirement, it is recommended that the carpets be cleaned around December/January.

After mixing the disinfectant be sure to follow the test kit instructions. The way the test kit was being used showed the proper strength but the kit was being used incorrectly. The disinfectant was re-made and it is perfect now.
